For those of you looking for some rare and one-of-a-kind collectibles, including PC copies of my Thunderstorm books and the original, handwritten manuscript of BLINDSPOT (Dark Regions Press, 2012), check out this charity AUCTION. These items are from my personal collection, which means you won’t see their like on the market again anytime soon, if at all. I’m only parting with them now because I want to help a family friend achieve his dream, much as all of you have been integral in helping me achieve mine. Feel free to check out the GOODIES, if you have a spare second, and drive up the prices for a good cause. 🙂
(Details below the cut.)
The wait is over. Thank you to those of you who’ve been patiently awaiting the re-release of these books. I hope they’re worth the wait!
Special thanks to Kim Killion at The Killion Group for the stunning artwork and the Digital Media & Publishing Department at Trident Media Group for doing all of the heavy lifting. (You guys are the best!)
As promised, here’s your first look at the new covers for SNOWBLIND and SNOWBLIND: THE KILLING GROUNDS. I think they’re phenomenal! Thanks to Kim Killion at The Killion Group for the artwork and the Digital Media & Publishing department at Trident Media Group for bringing these books back from the dead. My most sincere apologies to all who’ve been waiting so patiently, but it won’t be much longer now. In fact, they’ll be available tomorrow! Just click the titles or the images and you’ll be magically whisked away!
For those of you who bought these upon release in 2012 and 2015, respectively, there’s no need to repurchase; these versions contain no significant changes or updates.
As many of you have noticed, several of my books have mysteriously disappeared from retail sites. When DarkFuse, the publisher of these works, went out of business, the rights reverted back to me. Rather than hurry to self-publish them or enter into a rushed agreement with a different publisher, I decided to take my time and investigate all of my options. Ultimately, I decided to re-release the titles using a service Trident Media Group (the world’s greatest literary agency) provides for its clients. The structure of this deal allows me to maintain a considerable amount of control over the product and pricing, while gaining access to an exclusive agreement with Amazon beyond that of a traditional self-publishing arrangement. It also allows me to utilize some amazing talent for the cover art (and saves me about a million hours of beating my head against the screen trying to design them myself), as you’ll all soon see.
Watch this space during the coming weeks for announcements detailing the release dates and artwork for SNOWBLIND, SNOWBLIND: THE KILLING GROUNDS, SUNBLIND, UNIDENTIFIED, and ANCIENT ENEMY. I want to extend my deepest thanks to those of you who’ve been waiting patiently for the resurrection of these titles. Your enthusiasm means the world to me!
Readers often ask about my research process. When I first get an idea, I spend a lot of time mulling it over. Once I determine there’s the potential for a book, I begin gathering materials. In addition to searching the internet and bookmarking a hundred sites, I also order a big stack of books. This is what I bought to begin research for SUBHUMAN, in case you were curious:
It was recently discovered that there are underground caves in Antarctica capable of supporting higher orders of life. Coincidentally, this is the backbone of the plot for SUBHUMAN. I wrote a short article for Kensington’s Hobby Reads blog about the similarities. Here’s a snippet:
“After millennia beneath the ice, the frozen continent of Antarctica is finally starting to give up its secrets, and what amazing secrets they are. A 13,000-year-old meteorite containing fossilized bacteria believed to be of extraterrestrial origin. The remains of a cat-sized, egg-laying, distant relative of modern mammals. Bodies of water the size of the Great Lakes encapsulated beneath two vertical miles of ice and brimming with the kinds of extremophilic organisms responsible for the genesis of the planet’s earliest atmosphere. And now, an entire system of caves heated by geothermal energy and capable of supporting not just higher orders of life, but species believed to exist nowhere else on the planet.”

12 days until SUBHUMAN’s on the racks and another great review to whet your appetite:
“Michael McBride knows how to write a good thriller. His horror isn’t too shabby either! Subhuman was a delight to read. McBride’s style brings to mind both James Rollins and Michael Crichton.” – Sci-Fi & Scary
With SUBHUMAN preparing to hit the shelves in 13 days, it’s time to start rolling out the reviews. The first is a doozy!
“Building on the success of 2015’s Subterrestrial, thriller powerhouse McBride begins his Unit 51 series with meticulous quasiscientific conceptual groundwork, drawing readers into a satisfyingly slow-building, intellectualized mystery.” – Publishers Weekly
October 31, 2017. Halloween. The first book in the Unit 51 series from Pinnacle Books. Here’s the full trailer, and it’s absolutely amazing!
