PESTILENCE

That’s the title of the third book in the Unit 51 Series, following SUBHUMAN and FORSAKEN. It ties off all of the loose ends from the first two books and sets up a dramatic confrontation that will leave the team forever changed. Assuming it survives, that is. It’s scheduled for release in October 2020, which I know is a bit of a wait, but trust me when I say it’ll be worth it. There’s a surprise or two you won’t see coming.

  1. You are brilliant! I can’t wait to see what’s happening next in this series! But to wait until October 2020, doubt my heart will take it!!! 🙂 Love, love, love your work!

    1. Sorry it took so long to reply! My spam folder ate my notification, dammit! Thanks for the kind words and for picking up the books. I hope the third book doesn’t let you down!

  2. I read your first 2 books last year while i was incarcerated in Harford County Maryland (terrible place, esp their jail. lol) for some stupid old drug charge that happened before i got clean n turned my life around. no religion or any of that bullshit. just love of self others n a desire to live again n take back my life from addiction. I’m going to school for welding now n starting a family soon i hope.
anyway i read both books in this series during my time there n can honestly say it was one of the best parts about the experience n one of the few only good things to come out if it.
priar to that i read The Southern Reach Trilogy which i was obsessed with n was fanatic, these first 2 books in Unit 51 have a bit in common n some heavey overlapping of influences n interests i think. so i loved them, not only did they entertain me n help me escape my shitty reality, they stimulated me, provoked thought n creativity n taught me quite a bit of history, science, etc…that i didn’t already know or only knew a little bit about, which made me love them more. this series combined so much of what i love from Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror, to mystery & suspense, to aliens & conspiracy theorist, as well as actual science and information.
so I’m free & in welding school now n getting back into writing creatively again n i can’t wait to read the 3rd and final book I this series!!!
but what’s up with the long wait?
the others came out quickly n so close together!
well I’m excited but…what’s up with the title? it doesn’t seem to fit or follow any arc? idk i guess it’s okay it just doesn’t feel right though…it doesn’t inspire or shock or awe or excite me it just tells me a simple basic fact. idk maybe it just doesn’t carry as much deep meaning or dreadful associations with me as say…Plague or Pandemic or Apocalypse (cliche a lil maybe but always classic) or u could do more then 1 word but that’d break the continuity of the series…maybe u could do 3 words to even it out. or 2 bcuz 1 entry plus another entry equals 2 so like: …Rejected Life or Humanity Disowned or… Extinction Event…or just Extinction (if u like yer 1 word thing) or 3: Extraterrestrial Eternal Annhilation…Apocalyptic Plague…Death Incarnate…Infected Infinite.
idk just a bunch of ideas off the top of my head, I’ll still read it n probably love it regardless of the title but i just thought I’d share my thoughts and see if anyone else agreed or maybe you would like feedback while we wait, and let u know that your work is amazing n thank u for sharing it!

    1. Hey Mike! Glad you enjoyed the books and I’m happy they helped you through a rough time. 🙂 I haven’t read The Southern Reach Trilogy, but it sounds like something right up my alley. I wish I could say I had any kind of control over the release dates of any of the books. 2020’s definitely a long time to wait, but who’s to say the third’s the final book? If it sells well enough and the publisher wants another, I have what I think is a good idea in mind. As far as the title, these things are subject to change. (I forget my original title for the second book, but the publisher hated it. They pitched Godforsaken, which I agreed to. Next thing I know, it’s called Forsaken and no one told me. 😉 ) Anyway, we’ll see how it goes. Thanks for dropping a line and good luck with your welding and writing careers!

I love reading your work! It has such realism and the technical information makes it feel like it is actually happening. I would not be surprised to find out in the near future that it is reality. Please keep writing, I hope to see your work on the big screen!

    1. Sorry for the delayed reply, Sandy. (I stopped receiving site notifications for whatever reason.) As far as your statement, I’m afraid that victory can never be achieved without the sacrifices of good people, often so that others might live.

  4. I love the Area 51 series. I read both books, and now I’m looking forward to Pestilence. More than a year is a long time to wait, so I was wondering if there was any chance of a notification of some sort to alert us of its release. Thank you.

    1. Hi Cliff! I’m so sorry for the delayed response. (I didn’t receive the comment notification.) I’d wish I were technologically adept enough to set notifications, but I promise I’ll announce it everywhere I go once it gets close. Unfortunately, October 2020’s still a ways off, but, I assure you, Pestilence will be worth the wait.

  5. Just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed reading Subhuman and Forsaken. I love James Rollins and have read at least a dozen of his books, all of Micheal Crichton’s and Preston and Childs novels. I happened to stumble upon Subhuman while browsing at the book store. Bought it, and finished it in 4 days. I literally couldn’t put it down. Raced to the book store and bought Forsaken, and same thing 4 days and I’m almost finished. Well written novels and your style is so much like the authors ive mentioned only better. Now I’m going to wait until your 3rd book comes out and in the meantime go back to Rollins to pass the time. Sad but what can you do.. Anyway just wanted to send my compliments on wonderfully written, stories. Very addicting. Keep up the good work….

    1. Sorry for the delay in responding, Bill. (Technology issues on my end.) Thank you so much for picking up my books and taking the time to write. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to be mentioned in such lofty company. Sorry the third book’s still a year away, but I personally think it’s the most exciting in the series and ought to answer all of your outstanding questions, while paving the way for future investigations. 🙂

  6. Love this series! I just finished Forsaken. I don’t know how I’m going to wait until October for more!

    1. Awesome! Thanks, Melissa. You made my day. October really isn’t too far away and I’m hoping to be able to reveal the killer cover (and the new name) soon. 😉

  7. Oh my! Good to know! I literally picked up Forsaken then Subhuman because I was enamoured. I’ll be waiting!

  8. Hey,

Is Mutation a continuation of Forsaken or a standalone, or is Pestilence still on track?

  9. Oh fab you made my day!!

Have ordered the paperback, will take another 15 days for it to get to me, but hey I am on track 🙂

Have just ordered God’s end trilogy on kindle, wanted the paperback but its out of print..

I do hope you continue the Unit 51 forward ..
